About

Narah Nicole’s mission is to entertain audiences and educate inquiring minds about folk dances and Belly dance or Raks Sharki as it is called in the cultures of origin. Each performance and class is built on over 20 years of experience, study, and focused training.

Narah began attending classes after seeing her first teacher’s class perform backstage at a ballet recital in high school. She told her mom she HAD to take Belly dance four times between backstage and the car door. She began her studies under Petite Jamilla, a dancer who toured the world with Miles Copeland’s Belly dance Super Stars Show. She has since had the privilege to be able to study with a variety of teachers and danced in many troupes and venues across the Southeast, from restaurants and theaters to renaissance festivals and the Texas State Fair.

Narah guides individuals to explore belly dance in a safe environment, meeting them exactly where they are and using their curiosity about the dance as the starting point. Each class is anchored by the music, history, and steps from the cultures from which the dance originates. She continuously takes classes and workshops from instructors both in and outside the cultures of origin.  She endlessly strives to improve her understanding of the dance and has experienced both group and individual dance coaching to enrich her personal dance development.

No dance experience necessary for her beginning classes and each student is encouraged to wear clothes that make them feel comfortable and allow movement, no mid-drift bearing attire required. She believes that all bodies are dance bodies and each individual is more than welcome to explore the dance simply because interests them.
